Cascades, winter views, and lots of ice. Last week’s rain prior to subfreezing temperatures gifted us with the best ice I’ve found this winter season here in the Ozarks—so far. Pickle Creek was rushing with cascades and small waterfalls while icicles formed on the banks and cliffs. It was generally right around 30ºF for the high with no wind whatsoever. The sun was out and with a few of the right layers I never broke a sweat during the day’s 9.3 mile trek. We’ll see how the rest of winter plays out here in Missouri and I’ll keep on searching for bigger and better ice. Not going to lie, I’m sure getting antsy for prime Milky Way season.
